If you are a dentist who has had many successful teeth whitening procedures, there is no doubt in my mind that a bright tooth is the way to go. I am in no way trying to replace or take away your dentist's ability to do the job. What does "Brightening" mean? When people say "brightening" what they really mean is "deodorization". Deodorization is an ancient and extremely effective form of treatment for gum disease. It is a natural process, where a chemical is placed in the body which will release natural oils and dirt. The bacteria in the mouth and gum can't get these chemicals out and the gum disease progresses. In fact, in some people the condition can get so severe that it is painful to eat. Deodorization helps prevent this from happening. It also prevents plaque from accumulating in the mouth, which will cause more problems when plaque is formed. To brighten your teeth, just mix one tablespoon of baking soda in half a cup of milk or water. Mix it in a small bowl and place it on your teeth. Leave the paste on for a minute and then brush your teeth. Make sure that you are not chewing gum before brushing.
